Reporting dashboard

Client Reporting

A focused dashboard that shows clients what is happening with their Google Ads, so the account team stops rebuilding the same report every month.

Client Reporting — Reporting dashboard

The challenge

What we walked into

Clients wanted to know what was being done with their Google Ads spend, and the only way to tell them was to pull the numbers and assemble a report by hand. It was monthly, it was repetitive, and it produced a static document that was out of date the moment it was sent.

The report was the product, and it was made by hand

Every month the team pulled Google Ads performance, put it into a document, and sent it out. It was not difficult work. It was repetitive work with a deadline, which is a worse combination, because it consumed a predictable chunk of every month and could not be skipped.

The output was also stale on arrival. A monthly PDF describes a period that has already ended, so any client question about the current month restarted the whole process.

Give the client the dashboard instead of the document

The dashboard pulls directly from Google Ads and shows the client what is happening with their account whenever they look. No assembly, no send date, no version that is more current than the one they have.

That changed what the monthly conversation was about. Instead of walking through numbers the client was seeing for the first time, the account team could talk about what to do next, because the client had already seen the performance.

Deliberately narrow

This is a Google Ads reporting dashboard. It is not a business intelligence platform, it does not tie spend to downstream revenue across every channel, and it was not built to.

That scope was the right call. The job was to answer what is happening with my ads, for a client, without a person assembling it. Broadening it would have made the build longer, the interface heavier, and the answer to that specific question harder to find.

How we went at it

  • Replaced the monthly assembly with a live pull from Google Ads
  • Gave clients direct access rather than sending a document
  • Kept the scope to one question rather than building a general reporting tool

What we handed over

  • Client-facing Google Ads performance dashboard
  • Live data pulled from the ad account
  • Self-serve client access with no report request needed

What happened next

  • The monthly report assembly stopped being a recurring task
  • Clients could answer their own question at any point in the month
  • Review calls moved from presenting numbers to deciding what to change
